All Things Hoops Newsletter #1
What's the Word?!?
Introduction

For those who might be new here, my name is Cal Griffin and I am the founder of All Things Hoops. I have been creating Basketball content since 2016 and Basketball has been a passion of mine since I was a kid. First and foremost, I am a writer who has honed my journalism skills on my own platform as well as other sports related platforms on the internet. I also am a Sports Photographer who uses the camera as a means of capturing moments in time and freezing them so that they live forever. I also host the Legends Talk Podcast, a platform dedicated to acknowledging past and future Legends in the game who have dedicated their lives to the sport of Basketball. These Legends range from former Streetball players, Announcers, Media personalities, and former NBA players. You can follow my Basketball journey on my website AllThingsHoops.com, my Instagram profile @AllThings_Hoops, my YouTube channel @allthingshoops. I also have Facebook @ath115 and Snapchat @all.things.hoops6. Thank you in advance for following me and my basketball journey and I hope to be providing you with more quality Basketball content for a very long time!

Legends Talk is Coming Back!

Your favorite Podcast is coming back for a new season. Brought to you by our sponsor Solepack, get ready for some of your favorite ballers to stop by and chat about their journey’s. At this point I’m not sure what season this is, but all we know that it’ll be a new one. We have gotten a great response from our Legends Talk viewers and we will be back in October ‘24 with a full roster of Legends to hear from. Please continue to like, comment and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t done so already! Above all… share the content with your friends and family, so that everyone can see the hard work we are putting in. Thank you in advance.
Legend of the Week

As a basketball savant, it is important that I dig deep into the culture and pick someone who is not only true to the game but also true to the culture. Randy Gil aka White Chocolate is one of those guys who has been putting in work for many years… and he’s still going! Born and raised in the DMV area Gill has played with just about every legend from that area including Kevin Durant, Steve Francis and Mike Beasley to name a few. During the Golden Era of Streetball, White Chocolate has also played in every Summer League you can think of including those in Washington DC and New York City. He has never ducked any smoke with the competition and has never been a pushover when it comes to being challenged by the best. We salute Randy “White Chocolate” Gill today and acknowledge all of the blood, sweat and tears he’s poured into the game we all love.
Word on the Street
The NYC Streetball scene is heating up this Summer! There are so many leagues that have popped up and are making a name for themselves in a major way! This week we want to highlight The Queen of Harlem Michelle Smalls’ Ballin Up in Harlem League which is a league that boasts a $50k purse to the winner of the tournament. The league is one of the main attractions in NYC right now and has celebrities like Fat Joe, Vado and ASAP Rocky pulling up to show some love to the tournament. The talent level is top of the line and the games have been action packed every week. More importantly there have been no incidents, with Michelle Smalls running a tight ship with her zero tolerance for any arguments or disagreements. The tournament is family friendly and a safe place to go and enjoy some good basketball without having to think about much else. With the grand prize at $100k for next summer, co-signs from rapper Cam’ron and a cult following of avid lovers of Streetball, Ballin’ Up in Harlem proves to be one of the best attractions in NYC for years to come! It’s playoff time so the stakes are at an all time high. Stay tuned to see which team wins big this summer.
Stay tuned for more Basketball content. We have another Podcast in the works where I will be sharing the stage with other basketball minds and speaking on whats going on in the Basketball world. Stay tuned! Make sure to continue to share our content as that helps get the word out on what we are doing here.
Thank you,
-Cal
